1. Preparation

  • Ensure you’re familiar with the renewal process and requirements.
  • Have your login details for the DMV website ready.

2. Gather Necessary Documents & Forms

Required Documents:

a. Application Form:

  • Application for Renewal of Traffic Violator School (TVS) Instructor License (OL 740)

b. Examination or Continuous Education:

  • If you have not passed the TVS operator examination: Provide a certificate of completion for a department-approved 18-hour continuous education program.
  • If you have passed the TVS operator examination: You are exempt from the instructor examination.

3. Submit Application and Documents Online

  • Log in to the DMV website.
  • Navigate to the TVS Instructor License renewal section.
  • Upload the completed OL 740 form.
  • If applicable, upload the certificate of completion for the 18-hour continuous education program.
  • Pay the associated fees online.

4. Fees

  • $50 renewal application fee.
  • $1 Family Support Program fee.
